Mental health wellbeing discussed during the latest APS talk

The 19th APS talk was recently delivered by Svetlana Gatt from Richmond Foundation that has been offering mental health support to the community for the past 27 years.  The talk focused on how people have adjusted to the pandemic over the past year and how to take care of their mental wellbeing during these unprecedented times.

The session reflected on how the necessary adjustments to reduce the spread of COVID-19 which could have affected our mental health, including the shift to remote learning and working from home. Ms Gatt elaborated on the meaning of mental health and how it can change over time. She also looked at how we can adjust to change and discussed some coping mechanisms.

Following the session, Ms Gatt commented that, “This APS talk has been a great outreach initiative to help create more awareness about mental wellbeing. Over the past year we have experienced a surge of calls at Richmond for people seeking help. We hope that this session has raised awareness on how we at Richmond can help and how the audience can support themselves and the people around them.”
