Cloud services provider BMIT added a new backup solution entitled “Backup-as-a-Service” (BaaS) to their product portfolio, according to a press statement issued by BMIT. This comes shortly after the announcement of their partnership with Microsoft and building a new data centre.

“One of our main drivers at BMIT is the dedication to keeping customer’s data constantly safe and accessible. The introduction of our new BaaS solution further reinforces this commitment. We’re giving our clients even more flexibility and control in how they implement their backup setup,” says Jack Mizzi, Chief Marketing Officer of BMIT.

“We’ve pitched this new solution during our meetings here at ICE 2019, and the feedback has been very encouraging. We’re excited to start working with these new customers and not only improving their backup system but also simplifying the management of it,” he adds.

The new cloud solution can be stored in BMIT’s data centre facilities or within the client’s premises. BaaS supports multi-platform backups with workstation backups.

Under the recently-announced partnership, Microsoft Azure products will become more accessible to local businesses.

BMIT is set to open this new state of the purpose-built facility in Żejtun by next year, with works already underway.

The post BMIT expands portfolio with new backup solution first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

BMIT Technologies Plc, a subsidiary of GO Plc, was formally listed on the Malta Stock Exchange on Friday, after an initial public offering (IPO), during which institutional and general investors subscribed to close to 99 million shares valued at approximately €49m, according to a press statement issued by GO.

“We are truly humbled by the unwavering support and confidence shown in the company. The response to this offering was as overwhelming as it was encouraging, and an affirmation of our ongoing commitment to ensure that our investments bring more value to all stakeholders, in particular, our shareholders,” said Nikhil Patil, CEO of GO Plc, in a company announcement issued earlier that week.

“This is another milestone in GO’s success story which reflects a forward-looking organisation that is building its future growth on strategic investments,” added Mr Patil. “Such processes allow us to reinvest in areas that will create greater value, both for our shareholders and customers, and ultimately, the economy as a whole,” he concluded.

BMIT Technologies Plc commenced its trading activity on the main regulated market of the Malta Stock Exchange on Monday, under the BMIT ticker symbol.

The post GO’s BMIT enters bourse after IPO first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.

Cloud services provider BMIT made Microsoft Azure products accessible to local businesses under strategic partnershipwith Microsoft, BMIT Technologies announced at the end of 2018 during a workshop event organised by Microsoft for several gaming companies in collaboration with the Malta Gaming Authority and EY, according to a press statement by BMIT.

Microsoft Azure products will become more accessible to local businesses following a strategic partnership between Microsoft and BMIT Technologies, which incorporates BMIT Limited and Kinetix IT Solutions Limited.

Due to the partnership, which incorporates BMIT Limited and Kinetix IT Solutions Limited, BMIT expects to offer new services to customers, including the possibility to purchase Microsoft’s Azure services directly from BMIT.

“The strategic partnership is the positive outcome of our discussions between Microsoft and BMIT, always with the scope of bringing together Microsoft as a worldwide leader in cloud services and BMIT, whom we consider as one of Malta’s leading IT and cloud managed services provider, perfectly able and equipped to drive cloud-based innovation among Maltese businesses,” said Peggy Antonakou, Microsoft’s CEO for Greece, Cyprus and Malta, during the announcement.

“We already enable a good number of organisations by leveraging our local infrastructure and our expertise to deliver a variety of cloud-based scenarios including public, private and hybrid cloud infrastructure and productivity solutions, said Christian Sammut, CEO of BMIT. He also said he expects additional synergies to come up between BMIT Technologies and Microsoft.

“This closer collaboration will take such efforts to a new level, allowing us to deliver a broader range of emerging technologies based on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Office 365 to both our Malta-based and international customers,” Mr Sammut said.

“Our agreement with BMIT forms part of this commitment to work and collaborate closely with trusted and responsible partners so that they can apply the right technologies that help the community achieve economic and social prosperity,” added Ms Antonakou.

The post BMIT signs strategic partnership with Microsoft first appeared on The Malta Business Weekly.
