Malta will be hosting the Art Camp project by UNESCO for the third time after 2015 and 2017. The event will take place from 24 October to 5 November at tal-Fanal in Gozo.

As streaming on the go and diverse entertainment options raise competition for cinemas in Malta, attendance figures and the market sentiment suggest that the big screen is still king.

Public gathered at the Gozo Nature Museum in Victoria on Saturday as Heritage Malta showcased a small Maltese flag which has been carried to the Moon and back, accompanied by fragments from the Moon.

Maltese films were viewed by 17,911 people generating a total gross box office of €97,000 through 756 screenings, while foreign productions had 822,020 viewers delivering a box office of €5.4m via 44,255 screenings in 2018. Malta had eight cinemas on offer with a total of 35 screens and a seating capacity of 6,716.

Sea transport between Malta and Gozo increases by 2.6% in the second quarter of the year, compared to the corresponding quarter of 2018, according to the latest figures published by the National Statistics Office (NSO).
