The very first Malta National Transport Awards ceremony, hosted by Transport Malta together with the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure, and Capital Projects, concluded with a celebration of innovation and excellence in the transport sector.
This event recognised and honoured outstanding contributions towards improving transportation and mobility in Malta.
The awards were keenly contested, reflecting the diverse and dynamic nature of Malta’s transport sector. The winners, selected through a rigorous, transparent, and independent adjudication process by a panel of esteemed experts, demonstrated achievements in their respective fields.
The winners
Infrastructure Category: Malta Public Transport, for its investment in a state-of-the-art electric charging station
Innovation Category: Active Ageing and Community Care (Silver-T service), for their innovative approach in integrating transport solutions with community care, particularly benefiting the elderly population
Modal Shift Category: Project Aegle Foundation (sCOOL2walk project), for its impactful initiative encouraging a shift towards more sustainable modes of transport, especially among school-going children
Sustainability Category: MaltaPost plc (One Delivery project), for their efforts in sustainable delivery methods, significantly reducing carbon emissions and promoting green logistics
Minister Aaron Farrugia said that this event marked a milestone in Malta’s journey towards a more sustainable, efficient, and inclusive transport sector. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to all winners and participants for their invaluable contributions, thanking all those who participated and all those who attended for the very first edition of the Malra National Transport Awards. He also thanked Transport Malta for their hard work in putting this ceremony together, as well as the selection committee for their time and dedication, and to the sponsors and all those who supported this initiative.
Transport Malta CEO Jonathan Borg stressed the profound impact that transport has on every aspect of our society, and the importance of recognising the remarkable individuals and organisations whose contributions have propelled both the transport sector and society forward. “We must collaborate and work together to strengthen our modes of transportation and overcome our challenges. By pooling our resources and working together, we can pave the way for better transport that will benefit future generations and ensure our nation’s continued growth and prosperity.”
