The 18th edition of the l-Istrina BOV Piggy Bank Campaign in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation (MCCFF) was launched.

For the second year running, this year’s edition will consist of piggy banks made from recycled material and which will thus reduce the negative impact on the environment. The three piggy banks with new designs have drawings related to the theme ‘Seeking what unites us’, designed by children themselves.

In a speech given on the occasion, the President spoke about the importance that, “children understand that not everything in the world is rosy and learn that there are vulnerable people who need our help.”

President Vella thanked everyone involved in this campaign and encouraged students to do their part with this purpose in mind.

Present for the launch along with President George Vella were Mrs Miriam Vella, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Frank Fabri, and BOV Public Relations Officer Charles Azzopardi.

While this year Mrs Vella will not be visiting the schools, she will be meeting a number of children from different schools at the Kitchen Garden.
