Maltese hotels reported more than 700,000 guests in first half of the year

The total amount of guests who spent more than one night in Maltese hotels throughout the first half of 2022 amount to 766,214, an increase of 540,515 guests when compared to the previous year.

The increase in guests also saw a significant increase of 2,396,117 nights spend in Malta when compared to 2021.

With 4 star hotels being the most popular (46.5%) guests at hotels stayed an average of 4.4 nights in the second quarter of 2022. This is an increase from the 4.1% of last year throughout the same period.

Hotels also made use of 58.4% of their total bed capacity, an increase of 39.7% compared to 2021. In Malta there are 249 collective accommodation establishments with a total capacity of 43,331 beds spread across 18,890 bedrooms.

Out of the 766,214 guests who stayed at hotels, Gozo and Comino had their fair share with 25,187 and 71,391 guests respectively.

Gozo and Comino accommodation percentage increased by 17.8% to total 40.5% of their occupancy.
