Prime Minister Robert Abela visited iGaming NEXT, a large international iGaming conference, which hosted 4,000 delegates in Malta.

The conference was held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre (MCC) and it was recorded as being the largest ever conference that the MCC ever held, the government said.. There were 200 speakers and people from over 70 countries who attended the conference.

During the visit, Abela said that the conference, supported by the foundation Gaming Malta, continued to strengthen Malta’s position in the field of gaming and helps to improve the already recorded strong economic results in the field of hospitality and entertainment.

Abela added that this event promotes the government’s economic vision and celebrates the positive reputation it holds in this sector.

Abela, accompanied by Economy Minister Silvio Schembri, met with the founder of the company Matin Petterson and with several representatives of different iGaming companies.

Over the last three years, the number of employees in this sector has increased by 34%, from 11,747 in 2019 to 15,774 by the end of 2022. 50 new companies within this field operating actively from Malta have also emerged over the past three years. Over the last two years, the gross value added in this sector has increased by 5.8%.
