Increased efficiency in public services through the introduction of a callback system
As from Tuesday 8th June 2021, the Public Service will be introducing another service in order to assist people in downloading or printing their Covid-19 vaccine certificate. This service will be free of charge and available at all 23 servizz.gov hubs all over the island.
The Public Service is not just introducing additional services but it is also focused on improving the quality and efficiency of these services. A case in point is the introduction of a callback system. By means of this system, a customer who does not get through immediately is given the option of being called back. This complements the vision whereby, through servizz.gov, the customer may access public services 24 hours a day.
This was announced during a visit by Principal Permanent Secretary Mario Cutajar to Centrecom, which is servizz.gov’s strategic partner. On this visit, which was part of Public Service Week 2021, Mr Cutajar was accompanied by Massimo Vella, servizz.gov’s Chief Executive, and was shown around by Robert Spiteri, Centrecom’s Chief Executive.
Mr Cutajar said that technology is one of the pillars on which the new Public Service strategy for the next five years is built, to further enhance the quality of public services, which in recent years have been made available 24 hours a day, all year round.
Another visit by the Principal Permanent Secretary during Public Service Week was to the MITA offices, where he was welcomed by Chief Executive Tony Sultana. Here, Mr Cutajar was shown around the new anti-cyber attack section, among others.
Mr Cutajar stressed the need to safeguard ethics at all times in this era of digitalisation. He also spoke about the importance of data security and of protecting information against any form of abuse.
